Almost done... but not actually 10/13/2021
hey hey hey !!
SO, I was supposed to finish my MTC classes this Saturday night !! Yay!! Except for that, that isn't happening anymore ahaha. As if 9 weeks in the MTC wasn't already long enough, they added an extra week of classes for Сестра Chamberlain and I since our reassignment leaves a week later than the Elder's in our district... I guess the Lord knew we really just needed some extra practice haha. So if you so feel the desire, say a little prayer for me that I'll have motivation to sit on zoom for an extra week :)
The language is a struggle as always, but looking back I can definitely see my improvement from week one. It's frustrating at times because I know that really, for all intents and purposes, the language doesn't matter, and yet I have to spend almost all my time on it. I was frustrated for a long time because I felt like I was already struggling to teach in English so I didn't want yet another obstacle for me or for the people that I'm teaching to not be able to understand me and have their questions sufficiently answered. I felt like Macedonian was simply a "necessary evil" tool to be able to communicate with the people in Macedonia, and that it shouldn't be necessary for missionary work (ahah okay maybe not that extreme but it definitely is not my favorite at times). BUT, I have come to realize that it is such an important tool! When I speak in Macedonian, as grammatically incorrect and limited in my vocab I may be, the people will hopefully be able to know that I am at least trying to talk to them specifically and that I want to show my love for them and a respect for their culture. So even if it is difficult, and even seems impossible at times, I know that God has asked me to serve there and to learn the language, so he will, and he has already, helped me to progress and be able to communicate. God always provides a way for us to accomplish the things he asks of us.
Today I finished reading the Book of Mormon! It was not my first time, but there is always something special about reading it again. When we teach about the Book of Mormon in Macedonian, all I can usually say is that it is the најдобро и највистина (best and most true) book in the whole world and that it сведочи на Исус Христос (testifies of Jesus Christ)! So even if that is all I can say, that is one of the most important messages I can share. I promise that it is true, and that, like Joseph Smith said it is, "the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." The Book of Mormon is a gift from God that reveals more about our purpose and potential. It gives me hope and comfort and answers questions that no one else can. I am so grateful for it and that it has been translated into Macedonian so I can use it to teach people in Macedonia about the love of God.
I love you all and hope you have an absolutely swell week!
Со љубов,
Сестра Џенсен
