dobredojdovte na mojot email denes
this has been a wild week. I think I may say that every week but things are literally never the same here.
The list of things I thought I would never do on my mission is ever growing. Soooo here's a few more things to add to the list:
-spend a week out of my area in another country
-meet with an Apostle (Elder Bednar !!)
-spend the night at the Elder's apartment (don't worry they were not there hahah still weird tho)
-watch a movie with our mission President
-throw a birthday party for one of our missionaries a month late
-visit the Adriatic Sea (practically the Mediterranean:))))
-losing our cell service, not only out of our country but also the moment we got back too. (Someone forgot to pay the bill...)
- Translating a members testimony on tithing in the middle of a talk about baptism.
- Led by a mountain man in Albania to a cave called Bat Poop Cave. There was in fact a lot of bat poop and I was wearing chacos
Pics from the Albanian countryside !
Mission conference and Elder Bednar !! This is the first time all the missionaries from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece, and Cyprus have been altogether. It was wild.
Seatime !! probs would have been more cool if it wasn't pouring rain but it was still hype. We cleaned up a lot of trash for a service project
also peep the first legit chapel I've been inside of in months
sis ch found a scary bone at the beach so ofc we had to snag a pic
And what would this email be without a picture of Danica <3 we went to go visit her to practice some translating
Other random pics:)
This week was a doozie and we literally went nonstop. I don't remember the last time we legitimately took a break for our meal times. Our responsibilities seem to just keep piling up far beyond what we are capable of but somehow everything is still okay. Somehow, God continues this work in this tiny party of the vineyard with his less than capable servants. The words from this hymn stuck out to me a lot this week:
We will not retreat, though our numbers may be few
When compared with the opposite host in view;
But an unseen pow’r will aid me and you
In the glorious cause of truth.
And then I was reading in Jeremiah and I saw these beautiful verses.
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. 7 ¶ But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. 9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
It is truly amazing how the Lord will bless our efforts. This is his work and he chooses to use the simple and weak things of the world. I saw this time and time again, whether I was translating or prompted to speak to someone who I was 90% sure only knew Albanian, God has given me the words I need and has guided me in every step of this work. It is of course lonely to be the only sisters and the only missionaries in like a 2+ hour radius, but I know that the Lord is always with me. I know I will truly never feel like I am up to this task, but it is a wonderful thing to know that I could never be and so the only other option is to rely wholly on my Savior.
So ljubov,
Sestra Jeni
